I can sit with a tray in front of the TV or pack the whole job into a snack box and take it on holiday.<br />
<br />
A corkboard works perfectly as a tray on my knee.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDT9AFNb9PQ5WFxxOPh2cT1QCHurvIrQPTXWjhxOh3CszDxjs4kAijzDvILBTnY3Ar1CrYTAnSNlwArvn53v6NQ5Jm9RoyVEW1s3YQNlkriiqAEdQrr7qXIm_ZB1kA7KWVGCC56MK35f36/s1600/20190115_130418.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDT9AFNb9PQ5WFxxOPh2cT1QCHurvIrQPTXWjhxOh3CszDxjs4kAijzDvILBTnY3Ar1CrYTAnSNlwArvn53v6NQ5Jm9RoyVEW1s3YQNlkriiqAEdQrr7qXIm_ZB1kA7KWVGCC56MK35f36/s320/20190115_130418.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
And I've now turned it over and padded the other side which makes pinning down the squares really easy and also doubles as a little ironing pad!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
More about patchwork soon.<br />
Have a good week,<br />

I made a false ceiling to take the light fitting which I'd made from a wired bulb fixed to a paper shade with a piece of silk clay. The clay air dried quickly and held nicely. I coated the paper shade with Triple Thick which gave it a nice gloss and also made the shade firm.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSv7_99YrulvLWIwgCZ4R0ZPLb_0W6-Sc1iIdDo7ERHgnSGZdZVjPuv-qgecTZMCrBB2u9gE3Ph1p63SZWN70JyCTYpUUzumdBzHXZkkqKi3ZCCDAWxpx9hbgJdUu5BfOOyiullaW_TuqV/s1600/IMG_5128.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSv7_99YrulvLWIwgCZ4R0ZPLb_0W6-Sc1iIdDo7ERHgnSGZdZVjPuv-qgecTZMCrBB2u9gE3Ph1p63SZWN70JyCTYpUUzumdBzHXZkkqKi3ZCCDAWxpx9hbgJdUu5BfOOyiullaW_TuqV/s320/IMG_5128.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The wire went along the false ceiling and out through a hole in the back wall of the house.<br />
That is a story in itself.<br />
I fought my way into a cupboard and after removing several heavy items I got my little Black and Decker 'does everything gadget' out. I spent an hour sorting out the drill bits and trying to get a drill to stay in the chuck and eventually gave up, put it all away and poked the hole through the wall with my trusty little 'pokey thing with a handle' in two minutes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQHLAOp5I2ZUq4mUPnHnO5MqOZZKP3AbXMkS3iyemkAQ8xCdqL_zbev330kJuaekMVwBsaBU971M8EIgcFSjSZopX1ppYUnR3h5M-0ehW_o1U2lOh-qurxklnS9qEOK_ptPDacHk29M8cS/s1600/IMG_5139.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQHLAOp5I2ZUq4mUPnHnO5MqOZZKP3AbXMkS3iyemkAQ8xCdqL_zbev330kJuaekMVwBsaBU971M8EIgcFSjSZopX1ppYUnR3h5M-0ehW_o1U2lOh-qurxklnS9qEOK_ptPDacHk29M8cS/s320/IMG_5139.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I was then able to slide the new toilet cubicle into place, making sure the wire wasn't doubling up behind. Luckily it went well and the glue has now dried. I will never be able to show you the light as I can't get my hand and the camera inside the cubicle!<br />
<br />
Today I spent hours and hours on the computer, designing some shop blinds. I had a couple of disaster prints and wasted two sheets of fabric but eventually made, what I think will look very nice once I get it fixed on the roller if I can remember how it went!<br />
<br />
I hope your weekend started at least as good as mine.<br />

I feel it will never be finished.<br />
<br />
I was able to take bits outside this summer and do the dusty, sanding work, so now, all the window frames have been painted and reglazed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJX8Jq1oJer3xHORBIMm-PmwEtG_2eQ9Hcn9WS2Xg5CqjpAWEp9BdXEL7JsIRV9uwyqxYFc7ZDshVwlqzrtw4UVqp2KXg6podR0XchuW-3fLkMWTbH5aLuSd4Tw4Rh_QP9Pw3H71wodnsS/s1600/Windows.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJX8Jq1oJer3xHORBIMm-PmwEtG_2eQ9Hcn9WS2Xg5CqjpAWEp9BdXEL7JsIRV9uwyqxYFc7ZDshVwlqzrtw4UVqp2KXg6podR0XchuW-3fLkMWTbH5aLuSd4Tw4Rh_QP9Pw3H71wodnsS/s320/Windows.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
All the interior walls have been lined with paper and painted.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio1pWfzplOVQgtnpaHub8yaq71nf8p4o70hyphenhyphenb1YM4kQ4K61jY-ldCIbKHcEYIU7goBdUTgs5QNcEKOZiitlvqLNw1BgdqX-NaJ9nQmVfu_Ck_tqmdjU0L3n26Z8IADbYLMAxqUTg9fjqTS/s1600/Inside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio1pWfzplOVQgtnpaHub8yaq71nf8p4o70hyphenhyphenb1YM4kQ4K61jY-ldCIbKHcEYIU7goBdUTgs5QNcEKOZiitlvqLNw1BgdqX-NaJ9nQmVfu_Ck_tqmdjU0L3n26Z8IADbYLMAxqUTg9fjqTS/s320/Inside.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'd previously scored floorboards for the Victorians on the ground and third floors so I have painted these white. I have to think what to do with the others yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Meantime I have worked on the ground floor Customer Toilet. As this will be enclosed I had to put everything in the corner first because I will not get my hand inside the doorway once the walls are fixed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started with the floor covering, I made up some tiling and printed it to size then sprayed it with a satin finish inkjet fixer. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I spent a day outside, beneath the sunshade cleaning the Victorian bathroom tiles of all the old glue and paper. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I find the best way to tile a wall is to glue the tiles onto a piece of graph paper. This allows you to line them up well and once finished it is easier to place the tiles as a pre-made sheet. I also glued the skirting to the paper below the tiles before putting on the wall. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvcKQOKrsGor2dZ0VNZkS5XRx6TVdvtthAuod7uEAdY0jU_T94z-drTPlmzUKV4utwzZ116ih1SAJAo5Zn6Xbu_ti7O_97SMxodOZEDzODzlQrPtRCwWL7nVac3PhrMUqHZ8VbOLWKfAoz/s1600/Tiles5046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvcKQOKrsGor2dZ0VNZkS5XRx6TVdvtthAuod7uEAdY0jU_T94z-drTPlmzUKV4utwzZ116ih1SAJAo5Zn6Xbu_ti7O_97SMxodOZEDzODzlQrPtRCwWL7nVac3PhrMUqHZ8VbOLWKfAoz/s320/Tiles5046.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next, I put in the toilet, then placed the skirting on the side wall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieJNUkhquN1f0mlXdickgNzqlElWWjnpQC55AF7JjB65PK9jpzT5pDdncuHJZUcxDK0Ujxb8y2HaC0i0QOrloa6Cr2JMrQa6QGLOLoiXNxhwZUHoHsIf5YuVcujTNyVo9yBTpLRAu1nzLI/s1600/Toilet5048.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieJNUkhquN1f0mlXdickgNzqlElWWjnpQC55AF7JjB65PK9jpzT5pDdncuHJZUcxDK0Ujxb8y2HaC0i0QOrloa6Cr2JMrQa6QGLOLoiXNxhwZUHoHsIf5YuVcujTNyVo9yBTpLRAu1nzLI/s320/Toilet5048.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The basin was added next, with mirror above. I added some soaps and box of tissues, followed by the toilet roll holder and a paper towel dispenser. I was happy to reuse all the old fixtures and only needed to replace the toilet paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhG1HdSsmO7NpmyiC2pYi31cIPMc4GtjFVFpPyoQVuItQG_LZAg-rf484W6TROq9fJaJKFGOf9j4J1UMwODT7R6qGpI-xtAa7GHTpFO8ymMXZB4WdkMmXxh1M2n6K4SD1Qs3n8xQMsag42/s1600/Toilet+02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1132" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhG1HdSsmO7NpmyiC2pYi31cIPMc4GtjFVFpPyoQVuItQG_LZAg-rf484W6TROq9fJaJKFGOf9j4J1UMwODT7R6qGpI-xtAa7GHTpFO8ymMXZB4WdkMmXxh1M2n6K4SD1Qs3n8xQMsag42/s320/Toilet+02.jpg" width="226" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All of this will only be seen through the open doorway so I resisted the idea of making a waste bin and of putting up a hook for customers to hang their coat or bag!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Currently, I'm putting a light into a false ceiling which will be installed with the walls. I spent a couple of hours yesterday testing all the lights and wiring that I have for best effect. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ-XgYW9W78OzCcxd4ZUrOvCu3q9sRSk27zw7CZX6vFLlBqqVXWtkbVVun1gd4qnbPiWcfxk2DkwlgMCd3b0hiRmVTEyI05TK9DqEBc2e7hxftp9KoNXSsRNLZ30BTntUHevq99eYblgC8/s1600/Toilet+01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ-XgYW9W78OzCcxd4ZUrOvCu3q9sRSk27zw7CZX6vFLlBqqVXWtkbVVun1gd4qnbPiWcfxk2DkwlgMCd3b0hiRmVTEyI05TK9DqEBc2e7hxftp9KoNXSsRNLZ30BTntUHevq99eYblgC8/s320/Toilet+01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
More soon, I hope,</div>

Summer fun at the Beach House. What could be better?<br />
<br />
I hope you're enjoying the sun too,<br />

Naturally, I made beach related things because it's that time of year again and I love summer!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZn5vlRya-hnHvr9xRYSK6eE99i5GZlhETNjob64i8QjcoV_a-hdpkeRwG47CFBdgjLCPrCxB1aJsmn_8hsq4T6MolKkLxwbH-sHTMRtt4BRmiNwetKsj4TmbBF9RgANjZDKMNlRb-b-Bw/s1600/Beach+Cushions+2018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="428" data-original-width="570" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZn5vlRya-hnHvr9xRYSK6eE99i5GZlhETNjob64i8QjcoV_a-hdpkeRwG47CFBdgjLCPrCxB1aJsmn_8hsq4T6MolKkLxwbH-sHTMRtt4BRmiNwetKsj4TmbBF9RgANjZDKMNlRb-b-Bw/s320/Beach+Cushions+2018.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I made some new signs for the beach shop. The little 'Beach House' is new. I can see I have serious amounts of space on the shelves of the Beach Shop, I need to make new stock!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsKnigGjYoSLjS6hru3lxY0TKXrOLrX064w0l_mZUboPMAkNkgFLFXY89zAtmY3tQmN2ZBClgQx39zltUDHnK7O5rfjDkxynB9zIkU7IPhU-Mg3DUu0KzXE5pCnev8QtYj5FXi6_e4vdKE/s1600/Beach+shop+01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1149" data-original-width="1600" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsKnigGjYoSLjS6hru3lxY0TKXrOLrX064w0l_mZUboPMAkNkgFLFXY89zAtmY3tQmN2ZBClgQx39zltUDHnK7O5rfjDkxynB9zIkU7IPhU-Mg3DUu0KzXE5pCnev8QtYj5FXi6_e4vdKE/s320/Beach+shop+01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This big sign was going to be fixed to the side of my Beach Hut but I actually like it here, for now, anyway.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS4LnRpNdX-WZU0Xfg-3D39zJtzrLq1lLrjaLKLTQ3dcH6bIoZrnhNScsfo2LI2aZaPt3cTOOkEtxBCczcH2x_VftlbiRgs_0L1Labnx8-Vdh27raVejrKz27BrM8lh28j4PjN2L1GbmyJ/s1600/Beach+sign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS4LnRpNdX-WZU0Xfg-3D39zJtzrLq1lLrjaLKLTQ3dcH6bIoZrnhNScsfo2LI2aZaPt3cTOOkEtxBCczcH2x_VftlbiRgs_0L1Labnx8-Vdh27raVejrKz27BrM8lh28j4PjN2L1GbmyJ/s320/Beach+sign.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And the most exciting of all for me is the bead curtain I had pondered over for a few years.<br />
I finally sat outside, feet in a bowl of cold water to stop my brain from boiling in the heat, and made one. I love this selection of beads, they are the colours of the sea, sparkling wet seaweed and sand.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyLaXAw1ao7pkjq4VlHn67K3Z8GR2C9aObC8pEIBA_MT5mOonxkOLR_ZFl2B3giXn8fqA4XUc0lTmwQOltKEdQunJL90rG1ds_F-D8U89r8vOgjjrjLwtXXIb5dsQwCNXtpfiC3Tl93vzU/s1600/Bead+Curtain+03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyLaXAw1ao7pkjq4VlHn67K3Z8GR2C9aObC8pEIBA_MT5mOonxkOLR_ZFl2B3giXn8fqA4XUc0lTmwQOltKEdQunJL90rG1ds_F-D8U89r8vOgjjrjLwtXXIb5dsQwCNXtpfiC3Tl93vzU/s320/Bead+Curtain+03.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
The beads were a necklace I bought in Accessorise last year for £10. I felt guilty while the girl carefully wrapped them in a protective layer of tissue, knowing that when I got them home I intended to cut them up!<br />
It took two weeks to thread the beads, make them all the same length and fix them to a wooden strip without them falling off. The hardest part was to fix the first bead well enough to take the weight of all the other beads. I tried jewellery cement but actually found white glue easier in the end.<br />
I made a pelmet to hide the fixing bar and glued a door behind it to make it look realistic enough for a rear exit from the shop, straight to the beach!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtA2_aHfZi6rnDcaeBqx5ADLrGR9ffzrowhokzZIbDwcD5xIR4eQt2UwoXjgjK4tJq6Ms78YpWdZUGogCQ3LT6WkqP4PQGTyuVoorFatCMzKCvVfRFh2oj8KHpmEdUEL8llLy4RFlUZejG/s1600/Bead+curtain+02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1137" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtA2_aHfZi6rnDcaeBqx5ADLrGR9ffzrowhokzZIbDwcD5xIR4eQt2UwoXjgjK4tJq6Ms78YpWdZUGogCQ3LT6WkqP4PQGTyuVoorFatCMzKCvVfRFh2oj8KHpmEdUEL8llLy4RFlUZejG/s320/Bead+curtain+02.jpg" width="227" /></a></div>
The glass beads hang beautifully and are heavy enough to swing realistically. All it needs is a gentle breeze......<br />
I hung them up yesterday and they stayed up overnight! So far so good.....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've seen this done beautifully in full size and thought, 'Why not give it a try?'<br />
I printed some pretty paper I found on a website and with Mod Podge I did this!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7vQMIOng2iw88_iXDCssr4wOeQgVqyjKOX6fnwK6Ls9OEgd4q2oDCx4rtIknJuv2ha2E_lJLeCOW8eG1fwbKoiiAVPy8gpfElnkyAnGvKFDNh-gEu5LWI5D3LJUQxWY88pi68QbKju4OS/s1600/Decoupage+Chair2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1187" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7vQMIOng2iw88_iXDCssr4wOeQgVqyjKOX6fnwK6Ls9OEgd4q2oDCx4rtIknJuv2ha2E_lJLeCOW8eG1fwbKoiiAVPy8gpfElnkyAnGvKFDNh-gEu5LWI5D3LJUQxWY88pi68QbKju4OS/s320/Decoupage+Chair2.jpg" width="237" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0Q3bxHrFRMJtVBDI56t6G7nlcWcIH0YNqzTCJKxGOPhZ9CP4scYTDYHvDEDOrymUDVdJS343C4PbGsnZ-KdaMHYqR7FPNNHdmMS8PAcj3FHKqLPPZKO0GfqCmjADqaQAhCyX8XdD4jfbR/s1600/Decoupage+Chair.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1103" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0Q3bxHrFRMJtVBDI56t6G7nlcWcIH0YNqzTCJKxGOPhZ9CP4scYTDYHvDEDOrymUDVdJS343C4PbGsnZ-KdaMHYqR7FPNNHdmMS8PAcj3FHKqLPPZKO0GfqCmjADqaQAhCyX8XdD4jfbR/s320/Decoupage+Chair.jpg" width="220" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the paper I used, found on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/1120708638025154/">The Miniverse</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC511JlTnUevlWSy0ccbSDnT4shfgDkaqm201XkTV4g9V9n5Mp8xyI2Jfaau3R75280xa85S6Pqngxvl9uKUzgU4KHRJgr0TlFvdY2gJlW5o0jxYdy8Gss1iBdJ5R3W1PttPj1aaqx5MN6/s1600/Decoupage+Chair.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="800" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC511JlTnUevlWSy0ccbSDnT4shfgDkaqm201XkTV4g9V9n5Mp8xyI2Jfaau3R75280xa85S6Pqngxvl9uKUzgU4KHRJgr0TlFvdY2gJlW5o0jxYdy8Gss1iBdJ5R3W1PttPj1aaqx5MN6/s320/Decoupage+Chair.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I shrank the design using Photoshop and printed six squares. Tearing the paper doesn't work in miniature so I cut it into lots of tiny, random shapes and used a small brush to paste them down.<br />
I let it dry overnight then sanded very lightly and gave the whole chair a coat of Mod Podge to seal it.<br />
I'm very happy with it.<br />

I have no idea where I shall keep them all but as I am finally refilling my displays after all the real life redecorations I shall find homes for a few as I have several shops.<br />

Not one for sleeping on a sun lounger all day I packed a zipped pouch with scraps of material, needle, thread and scissors and put together some tiny hexagon patches.<br />
The fabrics were snippets of silver, white and blue fabric left over from a full-size heart wreath I made last year, so without thinking, I had moved on to Christmas mode.<br />
<br />
Over the last few days, I have been sewing them together, making small patchwork mats for the Christmas table. Today I finished the last one.<br />

My summer holiday project is now finished, well in time for Christmas. I suppose I should now start making something in readiness for Easter!<br />
It's almost the weekend, Have a good one,<br />

I removed all the lumps and slurries of dried plaster that were spoiling the outside walls. It is now smooth and ready for the new paint. I plan to add sand for some texture.<br />

</div>
My little retro scene of 60s and 70s was sadly lacking. Considering the humungous amount of cushions I make every year I have never made any for this scene.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8bR4MxhSIn0NdnN1_pP5oRe0p6T1Fjac7znJY-HmJOT1UMnSBQWbwOB5CMNpvHJXGBh7xnklsADLIu2qMyMS-6m29F1XSp52n6ZqPIDM8eMZkl0k-avYWMdhbexmT5zMIsEt7w0rJqD2j/s1600/Retro02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8bR4MxhSIn0NdnN1_pP5oRe0p6T1Fjac7znJY-HmJOT1UMnSBQWbwOB5CMNpvHJXGBh7xnklsADLIu2qMyMS-6m29F1XSp52n6ZqPIDM8eMZkl0k-avYWMdhbexmT5zMIsEt7w0rJqD2j/s320/Retro02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have two fabulous chairs made by <a href="http://1inchminisbykris.blogspot.co.uk/2011/03/two-tutorials-this-month.html">Kris Kompas</a> that I was creating the scene around.<br />
I bought a table, chairs and wall unit from a lady on Face Book because they resembled the G-Plan furniture my parents bought in the 70s.<br />
I stitched the small rug and my old friend, Bob made the wooden coffee table which displays the fruit made by <a href="http://www.belsminiworld.co.uk/shop/1-novelties/sliced-pineapple-wooden-board/">Bel</a> in a turned wooden bowl I bought on the internet but it was so long ago I can't remember and I didn't keep details, I'm very cross with myself as I usually keep note.<br />
So, this morning I made two cushions, and already the scene has livened up a bit.<br />

As I enter the doors of Kensington Town Hall I'm in a frenzy as to where to go first!<br />
Eventually I manage to organise my brain and take it steady, one floor at a time.<br />
Yet again, totally spoilt with row upon row of wonderful miniatures all shouting, 'Take me, take me!'<br />
<br />
I had to find my favourite food maker <a href="https://www.facebook.com/linsminiartform?pnref=friends.search">Linda Cummings</a>. Apart from her skill and artistry I have to admire her ability to make all the 'boring' stuff - and so much of it. By boring I mean meat, vegetables, and fish. Linda doesn't hasten back to making 'pretty as I and many others do.<br />
That is what is so special about her miniatures, the detail. Take a close look at her mushrooms, all detailed with the frilly bit underneath!<br />
Typical of me though, I didn't buy them, I bought 'pretty' cakes and fruit and here they are.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Another favourite of mine is Sally Meakin. I have collected many of her delightful miniatures over the years. These are what I bought this time.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Something for Christmas and something for my Halloween scene.<br />
<br />
At the May fair I bought a gorgeous floppy, brown bear for my Easter scene from <a href="http://www.veroniquelux.fr/">Veronique Lux</a>, who makes the cutest animals so I made for her stand where I found this sweet lamb for the Christmas display.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

There are two voices to be heard here, 'No don't do it!!' and 'Why not, it isn't genuine Victorian'.<br />
It is a sad thought that 25 years of work and love are to be destroyed but I wasn't enjoying it as much as I did. It is dull to look at, has very dark rooms, the furniture is dark and drab and the rooms too small, especially the kitchen.<br />
My real life changes meant I had to part with several dollshouses so finding space for a new one isn't an option, so I'm sticking with this well made, strong George Parker house and revamping.<br />

I'd never been happy with the shop because it was too dark to see into and the kitchen so small it was impossible to make it look interesting.<br />
I began ripping off wallpaper and realised how dirty and stained it had become, just like the real thing. I started pulling down the decorative ceiling and they practically fell down. Ten years in the hot climate of Spain had dried up the glues. Most of the glass fibre parquet floors pulled up easily. Now that the walls and floors are uncovered you can see the copper tape wiring exposed. I hope it still works, I haven't plugged in the lights for a few years but now I have access to it all and can rewire where necessary and add or change light positions.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Many of the interior walls felt loose due to the drying out of glue and with a bit of wiggling and then brute force I was able to get most of the interior walls out.<br />

Now that I've started I've got to keep going with the knowledge that I can make it look beautiful again.<br />
This was my first house and was Victorian because that was the style that was largely available in 1990. The inexpensive, imported furniture was all dark wood and perfectly suited but in my heart I wanted modern and started making modern miniatures. I began filling room boxes and selling my modern miniatures at <a href="http://www.dollysdaydreams.com/welcome.html">Dolly's Daydreams</a> fairs whilst continuing to buy Victorian for my house. The response to the modern was amazing, I had duvets and carpets, cushions and decorations in styles from the 50s, 60's and 70's and 80s as well as current styles. The feedback from customers was encouraging as I realised many collectors were stuck in the past with Victorian, Georgian and Tudor. Naturally I had to have a modern house as I was making so much and had become really keen to keep a record of current styles and not just replicate history. I ended up with eight dollshouses, one a 1960s beach house which I still have but I have parted with all the others.<br />
I was never brave enough before to change the Victorian house but now my space is limited I feel justified in doing it.<br />
Watch this space, it can only get better!<br />

It's one I designed a while ago and I've made it as gifts for friends as I can personalise it with their initials. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqJvyb35vFn8Pq922BAD7je80HTvUu1pzm75aQdaLtB50pQEKAGbhf6JkRmTO4a46HM4hKXt9kU9D_YGHToMCnOw3x0aij042zieRKvWNrIS9waLgAQUVB4_0ZxxFSDip1QfKnRDfp1N_9/s1600/Sharon+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqJvyb35vFn8Pq922BAD7je80HTvUu1pzm75aQdaLtB50pQEKAGbhf6JkRmTO4a46HM4hKXt9kU9D_YGHToMCnOw3x0aij042zieRKvWNrIS9waLgAQUVB4_0ZxxFSDip1QfKnRDfp1N_9/s320/Sharon+5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

But this time I also included a heart, a bluebird and a 'Love' tag to give it the St Valentine feel.<br />
I've hidden the initial in the photos because it's a surprise gift!<br />

I can at least use my imagination and prepare my miniature life for the beach hut. I have made about 30 different cushions, all beach themed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1FSGKPQm1Vmmgzw2-nH73ehf_biivUic8qifiN2YgxAKdYEjoX_WHFTMAjFetDDyNCRIm1iTaQjUSU4hTJlwhXKyzgDwLhAz9wuPYesgmn8yrPkq3mbRIMkOcu0pylQnTzfMNAdy94aqY/s1600/Beachy+all.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1FSGKPQm1Vmmgzw2-nH73ehf_biivUic8qifiN2YgxAKdYEjoX_WHFTMAjFetDDyNCRIm1iTaQjUSU4hTJlwhXKyzgDwLhAz9wuPYesgmn8yrPkq3mbRIMkOcu0pylQnTzfMNAdy94aqY/s320/Beachy+all.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

I've been making boxes again and after several attempts at getting the fit right I'm pretty pleased with my latest work.<br />
A set of three removable gift boxes with a carrier holder for display. <br />

I shall try very hard to keep on track this year.<br />
Just before Christmas I found these lovely pink Christmas trees in Paperchase for just three pounds each and have only just put them in one of my Christmas scenes (yes, I have too many things for just one scene!) and I was too busy in December to play.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTkYn_oiC18AFlbnEoXeNdR8FzoSKOsCcFmLvAHnNgsTBExHISQbjaIzl8WfaJRfGh5FOOR9lp8OlMGHV7t_ugefHI1pJV4vZdPOXSVUWNwlJVm_axJj0L8pdpKhDrmL6VBSk0RfwUnxkb/s1600/Christmas+Scene.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTkYn_oiC18AFlbnEoXeNdR8FzoSKOsCcFmLvAHnNgsTBExHISQbjaIzl8WfaJRfGh5FOOR9lp8OlMGHV7t_ugefHI1pJV4vZdPOXSVUWNwlJVm_axJj0L8pdpKhDrmL6VBSk0RfwUnxkb/s320/Christmas+Scene.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I like them just as they are, without decorations.<br />

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and received a few tiny gifts, they're almost always the best!<br />
Happy New Year!<br />

I wanted to make one in reds and yellows for Autumn. The sides of the hexagons are just under 1/4". This one measures about 4" x 3 1/2" and will lay nicely on top of a single bed. I haven't decided how to finish the edge.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyfDz62R4p1IO2SJ6fdOZzUpaSP1zFcYq7DgLGu7RckS2C6JWdI-yLY9BpQUw8kCVpIiDmRx0nEVuqpf4j5snziywVvSAQQdu5fYyb527hjBj3-pA5d7WGkhXJJYHsq078mrhyphenhyphenhEGy1yrv/s1600/Autumn.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyfDz62R4p1IO2SJ6fdOZzUpaSP1zFcYq7DgLGu7RckS2C6JWdI-yLY9BpQUw8kCVpIiDmRx0nEVuqpf4j5snziywVvSAQQdu5fYyb527hjBj3-pA5d7WGkhXJJYHsq078mrhyphenhyphenhEGy1yrv/s320/Autumn.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I used scraps given to me by my friend from when she makes her full size quilts and I cut the hexagons in the middle of large flowers to make small sized ones.<br />
I'm now designing a quilt for some very pretty lawn I was recently given by a lovely lady who reads my blog. I hope I can do it justice.<br />
I hope you all enjoy a happy weekend,<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiazVDAkAzlN3H32t8p9cqc5BxM1fImCYP0UGvoN1ZCjvGJhB9iGxzq1Cxyxx1NBQYgv-L_whZSbGPVPD9qHqP5kL0HPLp_vjwbcvidr0SYP9xRTt8g5NWwxvQtxwyNpC_fdfA6Yia6z2if/s1600/Cream+hex+fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiazVDAkAzlN3H32t8p9cqc5BxM1fImCYP0UGvoN1ZCjvGJhB9iGxzq1Cxyxx1NBQYgv-L_whZSbGPVPD9qHqP5kL0HPLp_vjwbcvidr0SYP9xRTt8g5NWwxvQtxwyNpC_fdfA6Yia6z2if/s320/Cream+hex+fabric.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I was wrong. I didn't consider the open weave or the thickness of fabric. Even as I began work and realised my mistake I couldn't give up. The fabric frayed terribly and I was unable to stop the fraying without putting in a lot of extra big stitches to catch the threads and hold them in place. I did put it away for a few months but this weekend I managed to finish it and it will lie on top of the bed in the little Victorian bedroom.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The fabric made the cover too thick but I backed it and then crocheted a dainty cotton lace edging with sewing thread and a size .60 hook.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG2Ia20w73D0U8uCLo_xmaHcAPebFPMoPiesb920K_qx5KcwCOa3kmB-XzCvV4nrkgP1XWxejWjorQ6Q7YbFM2DveU8U2nfhyaxNoireaupI7f2HdQTJusFYMFndoAmhmSV56j2JlkXPgN/s1600/Cream+hex+corner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG2Ia20w73D0U8uCLo_xmaHcAPebFPMoPiesb920K_qx5KcwCOa3kmB-XzCvV4nrkgP1XWxejWjorQ6Q7YbFM2DveU8U2nfhyaxNoireaupI7f2HdQTJusFYMFndoAmhmSV56j2JlkXPgN/s320/Cream+hex+corner.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I've done as well as I could with the material but so glad it's finished. I've learned my lesson, loving a fabric isn't good enough reason to use it!<br />
I've now started another one using scraps given to me by my friend who does full size patchwork. She used to throw away her tiny cuttings until I told her I can use scraps as small as 1" square!<br />
Thanks for looking,<br />

I found her quite by accident and just had to have some of her realistic fruit.<br />
I'd had a turned wood fruit bowl for years, standing empty and the fruit was just what it needed.<br />

Here the fruit bowl is on the sideboard in my new 1940s setting. Still a lot of work to do, such as stain the bare wood sideboard. The beautiful bowl of tulips is from The Flower Lady, crochet mat by Roslyn Treasures.<br />

I made a few today in the sunshine.<br />

I also made another mini doll.<br />
